Yap Hup Kee, Hakka Yong Tau Foo @ Pudu

May 28, 2012 - Oh gosh, this week is bit tasteless to me as I'm starting my diet program today onwards.
I just grasp Subway as my lunch and accompany my colleagues for Yong Tau Foo at Pudu.

Thanks to them, just found another nice place for Hakka Yong Tau Foo. The restaurant named as Yap Hup Kee, just adjacent to Shaw Parade.

The signature dish here 'goreng usus babi' (not sure how to speak out in English), amazingly boost my appetite. I have no way to say 'no' to try this out even I'm on diet today. This is a MUST try dish to those who are into pork.

Anyway, the fish paste is just little bit too small potion in compare to other places. But overall their fried Yong Tau Foo sits in a flavorful taste bud.

I promise myself to try their full range Yong Tau Foo on my next group visit together with the curry chee cheong fun, claypot loo sue fun and claypot dumpling soup.

In fact, they did serve seafood steamboat as well, but really no idea how was the soup flavor.

Sek Yuen @ Pudu

May 20, 2012 - Sek Yuen has been established since 1950's, and consider as the oldest restaurant in Pudu. During the old time, people are still wearing their 'kik kok wooden shoe' attending the wedding ceremony here.

The restaurant is just nestled opposite to UOB Bank, facing main road. There's another new branch just next to it, with air-cond.

The place is still full of crowds even is 900p.m. at night. The interior still maintain 60's decor without much touch up on it.

,this is their signature dish.
the name was derived from the idea that duck spread  out like the about instrument. The skin is crispy and perfectly matched with the plum sauce.
This is a MUST TRY dish.

Sweet and Sour Pork
The pork is just nicely cook, with balance mixture of the flour and fried timing.

Seng Kong Tau Foo
Beancurd with mixed vegetable. The gravy taste just nice, not too salty and oily. I believe there's no MSG ingredients in the dish.

Deep Fried Fish with Sweet and Sour Sauce
Again, the chef is good in adjusting the frying time. The fish meat is still smooth and mouthful.

Total spend at RM133 for 7 pax with 4 dish.

Breakfast @ Ah Koong Eating House, Pudu

April 05, 2012 - Ah Koong Eating House is one of the ordinary Seafood Noodle Restaurant that serve breakfast and lunch.

With the powerful word of mouth, I have a high expectation on this but I'm not really impress with my first mouthful of soup. The soup here is just so so, which I ordered the ordinary fishball noodle.

Their side dish menu did include of Yong Tau Foo.
However, the fish paste and fried skills still far away from those Yong Tau Foo specialist.

Here's the list of fish noodle they served.

Overview of the Ah Koong Eating House.

Wah Kiow @ Hakka Yong Tau Foo

Wah Kiow Hakka Yong Tau Foo

Nestled adjacent to Jusco Cheras Maluri.
Wah Kiow with just one solitary outlet serving their range of 32-years rich legacy. My first time  visitation was year 1998, which is 14 years ago. It brings lot of childhood memories to me as well, as I remember we used to spend our time 'lepak' opposite here (last time it was a chicken rice stall) with orders of Yong Tau Foo.

A spread of delicious stuff ingredients, bean curd, brinjal, lady finger, bitter gourd, chilli, spring roll, dumpling and fu chok.
The specialty is the mushroom fish paste and most delicious is the fried dumpling.
There are also signature side orders of Assam Fish and Hakka Pork (Zha Yuk).

The place is hot and humid, so make sure you're dressing in light attires.

Here's my colleagues - Alex, Duckling, Kent Yap, Peter Miow.

This guy is a Professional Food Seeker - Ben Lim.

Hi everyone, this time I'm on the screen. The best ever Yong Tau Foo I had in town, maybe because it touched my old memories during school time.

The most tasteful is Fried and Soup Dumpling here, more than 50 pieces the next table ordered. That's crazily amazing.
